Blue capped Rock Thrush

Blue-capped Rock Thrush (Monticola cinclorhynchus) is a winter visitor to Southern India. I caught this male of the species on a cloudy day in Kgudi (BR Hills, Karnataka). At 1/13s shutter speed, I could manage a reasonably sharp image. Check the motion blur of the bird’s tail.

  1. Enjoyed this image very much. The blur that I like so much is the exact reason why an expert photographer once told me (at an INW meet) that I could not print my pic of the Southern Birdwing…but to me, it adds beauty and reality, and gives the motion in the still photograph.
